Founded by Kirsten Burt in 2004, Pure Funk Dance is a dynamic dance community that aims to encourage, inspire, and create dance. The organization, now under the guidance of Kirsten Burt and newly appointed co-director Edmund Chau, functions as a close-knit family, fostering connections among dancers through various activities and initiatives. Pure Funk Dance organizes a range of events, workshops, competitions, showcases, and more, providing platforms for dancers to showcase their talents and for the community to come together. The choreographers, led by Kirsten and Edmund, bring extensive experience in teaching, performance, and dance education in Primary and Secondary Schools, offering a school dance program dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning. Committed to safety, Pure Funk Dance has obtained clearance to work with children and implemented a Child Safe Environment Policy.

The versatile dancers within the Pure Funk family hail from various international countries and specialize in diverse styles such as Hip Hop, Afro Dance, Lyrical Jazz, K-Pop, Popping, Animation, Commercial, Contemporary, Heels, Vogue, Waacking, and more. Under the joint leadership of Kirsten and Edmund, the team is adept at performing for music videos, theatre productions, and live events. In addition to community events, Pure Funk Dance offers specialized services, including birthday party workshops, hens dance party workshops, private tuition, wedding dance routines, and group private sessions. The community, fueled by the passion of Kirsten and Edmund, is not only dedicated to showcasing talent but also to making a positive impact on the dance community through various initiatives and charitable activities.
